Cool, brisk day with north wind and could hear the creaking of the pines; rubbing and scratching of the tree limbs against each other, leaves and trees swaying in the wind. Lovely yellow-green color all around with bits of white in flowing shrubs and red/ salmon colors of maples. No frog sounds today, the pond is all quiet but I did hear a busy woodpecker. The majestic, ancient oaks have small, immature leaves. I love all the negative spaces.
New Pope chosen- Benedict XVI. Been watching all the events going on in Rome - Pope John Paul's funeral, History of Vadican, elections, biography of JP2 and the election of Pope Benedict XVI.
Amazing weather with 3 weeks of spring weather and warm temps. Last Sat went to Chaska Herb farm and today went to Green Valley Greenhouse and Malmborgs. Getting anxious to plant. Green Parrot tulips by back door almost ready to open, red tulips by garage, berginia and rock cress are blooming. Mowed the lawn already.
This morning lily and I drove out to Ramsey where I went to a Senior Expo while Lily waited in the car. Afterwards we went walking on the Ox Cart Trail. It was sunny, warm temp in the 70's and took our time enjoying the weather, beautiful day and the sights and spent some time at the waters edge. As we walked around the curve by the pine forest I heard a loud racket and looked around thinking it was a bunch of birds or ducks making all the noise. I stopped and listened for awhile and couldn't identify the noise or see any activity that would warrant it. I continued walking a few more feet and stopped and listened again trying to pick out an individual sound amongst the racket and finally I determined it was frogs. Many, many frogs which I couldn't see were croaking in unison in around a small pond. I figure they must have just come out of hibernation in the mud and they were soooo happy. I did not see any of them though. There was a speedboat and a pontoom cruising up the river. In the open field on the north saw a bald eagle gliding over the field then sared over the treetops. It was a good day.
Our beloved Pope John Paul II died today.
