Long Story Short
I'm back! Today it's Indian Summer, sunny warm 60's and very pleasant. Tomorrow is Halloween and a cold front is moving in tonight with temps in the 30's. The last few months have had crazy weather. Very hot - starting with Memorial Day weekend with temps in the 90's. I even broke down and got a window air conditioner. I even got a new wall AC for the bedroom but that's another story. Installed improperly and haven't been able to get it done despite many attempts of getting a contractor here. Hot weather most of summer with July unbearable with record # of 90's. There also was a lack of rain and the combination of these factors meant frequent watering and high water bills for 2 months. But I am pleased to report the gardens were beautiful all summer with prolific growth and blossoms. Spectacularly beautiful at time with many compliments. This is also the year for my street renewal- gas, water, sewer, storm drains, curbs etc . It was suppose to start May but didn't get started until August. What a long process but interesting to watch the various steps. The dry spell contributed to blowing the dirt, dust etc covering cars, driveways, and ever to the house so couldn't open windows or use fans during the heat wave. It's almost done- still need final layer of asphalt on road , and replace asphalt removed from my driveway and finishing the landscaping with dirt and sod. Getting pretty late for sod though with winter just around the corner literally . Oh, another thing. On 8/24 we had a hail and rain storm with hail the size of a baseball. Lots of damage to car roofs, car windows, houses , roofs etc. Almost everyone in Anoka had some damage, Jim's car roof is dented badly. I needed a new roof on house and shed and some gutter work. Insurance agent called this am and everything finalized and covered everything. Sure do have good house insurance, thank goodness. Bye for now.
